The theory of alternating current measurements in biology and its application to the investigation of the biophysical properties of the trout egg.

چکیده
Alternating current measurements in biology are concerned with the resistance and capacitance of the cell membrane, and the resistance of the cell interior. No systematic electrical measurements have so far been made on the cell nucleus. Such expressions as resistance, capacitance and impedance are generally associated with wireless sets or wireless components. They have, however, a physico-chemical meaning. The resistance of the cell membrane is a measure of the ability of ions to pass through it, while the capacitance of the cell membrane gives an indication of its dielectric constant which in turn is an indication of chemical composition. The capacitance depends on the distribution of charge on, in, or round the membrane. Substitution or deformation of dipoles, or alteration of the forces controlling the relative positions of charged particles will make the capacitance vary. If the dielectric constant is known or guessed, measurement of the capacitance enables the thickness of the cell membrane to be computed. The equation for the capacitance of a parallel plate condenser summarizes these relationships:

Biochemical and histological studies of over-ripened oocyte in the Caspian brown trout (Salmo trutta caspius) to determine biomarkers for egg quality
The aims of the present study were to determine the best time for egg stripping after ovulation and to study oocyte over-ripening in the Caspian brown trout (Salmo trutta caspius). Eggs were retained in the female abdominal cavity for 40 days post ovulation (DPO). Partial volumes of eggs stripped from 10 individually identified females at 10 days intervals and fertilized with a pool of semen ...
متن کاملEffect of nanosilver particles on hatchability of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) egg and survival of the produced larvae
Effect of nanosilver particles was studied on the hatchability of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) egg and survival of the produced larvae at about 12ºC. In the first experiment the water-based nanosilver particles was used at concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 mgL-1 for 30 minutes per day starting 24 hour post egg incubation until the hatching time. The mean percentage of hatchability reach...

متن کاملDiscovery of active site of vinblastine as application of nanotechnology in medicine
Objective(s): Vinblastine is antimitotic, anticancer medicine that disturbs normal microtubule formation and favours depolymerisation. Structural study and finding the active site of vinblastine are the targets of this research. Materials and Methods: Vinblastine was optimized in vacuum and then in different solvents by Density Functional Theory (DFT) method. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) ...

Skin is the largest organ of the integumentary system with multiples important functions. Due to its complex structure, the permeability skin status can be modified by different external and internal factors such as chemical and physical stresses, and several skin and systemic diseases. Today, different non-invasive methods are used to assess the skin barrier biophysical properties. The paramet...
